Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Thursday spoke to the Leader Of The Opposition and YSR Congress Party President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy over the Tirupati Assembly constituency by-elections.
According to souces, Yanamala requested Jagan to ensure that the Tirupati by-elections were unanimous. Jagan reportedly gave an assurance that the YSRCP would not field its candidate for the Tirupati seat, for which by-elections got necessitated due to the death of sitting MLA M Venkataramana of the TDP on December 15, 2014.
It may be mentioned that the TDP too did not field its candidate for the Allagadda seat for which by-elections got necessitated due to the death of YSRCP leader Bhuma Shoba Nagireddy in a road accident. The YSRCP had fielded her daughter, Bhuma Akhila Priya, and she was elected unanimously.
For the Tirupati by-polls, the last date for the filing of nominations is January 27, and the TDP is trying to ensure that its candidate, who is yet to be announced, gets elected unanimously. (INN)
