The HMWSSB is planning a 24-hour shutdown of the Krishna drinking water supply Phases - I & II from the morning of April 4.
The HMWSSB is planning a 24-hour shutdown of the Krishna drinking water supply Phases - I & II supplying 180 MGD to the twin cities, from the morning of April 4th in order to inter-connect them with the Krishna drinking water supply Phase - III to bring in another 45 MGD of water.
"It has become inevitable to take up this shutdown to bring the additional water to the city, urgently required to meet the shortages during this summer," the Water Board said in a press release on Thursday.
To mitigate the hardship to the customers, the Board is taking precautionary measures by asking all the Chief General Managers and General Managers of O&M circles and divisions to ensure that sufficient water is stored in the reservoirs prior to the proposed shutdown for providing water to the tankers.
Meetings would be conducted with the Colony Welfare Associations to inform them of the proposed shutdown, and to store sufficient water in advance. The local MLAs and public representatives have been informed about the shutdown well in advance.
Bulk consumers are also being informed about the shutdown in advance so they may store sufficient water.
The General Managers of the divisions will conduct meetings with their staff regarding the shutdown and have them ready to regulate the water distribution after the commencement of Phase - III.
Hospitals, schools and other emergency services are being informed in advance to store sufficient water for the shutdown period.
Arrangements are also being made to keep a sufficient number of water tankers in each division to meet the demand.
A temporary control room is being opened at the Board Office, Khairatabad, to receive complaints from the people and have relief sent immediately. The phone numbers are 99899 95690 & 99899 90824.
