Hyderabad | 25th October 2023
There were no structural defects in the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), Telangana Engineer-in-Chief (ENC) Cheeti Muralidhar said today.

Muralidhar along with other engineering officials called on the Central team members and explained to them the technical aspects of the project.

The Central team led by National Dam Safety Authority Chairman Anil Jain has been in Telangana following the collapse of a small portion of the bridge of the Lakshmi (Medigadda) barrage of the KLIP in Jayashankar Bhupalpally on October 21.

Speaking on the occasion, Muralidhar said that there were no structural defects in the Kaleshwaram project.

He said that due to a quality issue with the sand and construction there, the small portion of the bridge had caved in, but that there was no structural defect in the project.

The ENC further said that the department would conduct a comprehensive inspection of the copper dam in November after the flood subsided.
