The office of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday dismissed reports of the state government planning to increase the VAT rate on petrol and diesel.
"This is not true. In fact, the VAT rate on petrol and diesel were increased in the month of January 2015 itself. The VAT rate on petrol was increased from 31% to 35.2%, and that on diesel from 22.25% to 27% at that time. There is no proposal or decision to freshly increase the VAT rate unlike what has been mentioned in the press," said a release from the CMO. (INN)
