No Fresh Tenders For GHMC Works' Extension?
The Mayor instructs officials to do away with fresh tenders in case work on a project is extended - approvals may be given to the current contractors, he says.
In a move that may attract criticism from opposition parties, the Standing Committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has decided not to call fresh tenders for the extension of civic works.
The decision was taken during the GHMC Standing Committee's meeting held at the GHMC Headquarters at Tank Bund on Wednesday.
Presiding over the meeting, GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain told officials that whenever there is an extension of works, approvals may be given to the existing contractors undertaking the said works, at a zonal level, depending on levels of competency. This, he said, could be done instead of calling for fresh tenders.
The GHMC will issue a separate circular in this regard, he said.
During the meeting, the Mayor instructed the Additional Commissioner (Estates) to inspect the Mallepally market along with members of the Standing Committee, to plan out the development of the market.
Officials have also been directed to organize a coordination meeting with the Collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, with regard to the construction of Anganwadi buildings.
A list of Anganwadi schools running in places other than government buildings will be taken from Collectors, and the Standing Committee will decide the priority of construction of Anganwadi buildings. (INN)
