Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, on Saturday, once again made a statement in favour of a separate Telangana state.
Talking to media persons, the PCC chief expressed confidence that the UPA-II government would find a permanent solution to the long-pending Telangana issue soon. He said that the government was working towards the protection of all interests of all regions before taking a decision on the bifurcation.
"What is wrong with having two Telugu-speaking States when Hindi-speaking people have many states?" he asked.
He appealed to all sections of people to observe restraint and patience before the Centre makes an announcement on statehood issue.
Responding to a query on the Telangana March, he appealed to pro-Telangana activists to organise the march in a peaceful manner. He also denied reports the government had given permission to the march bowing to the pressure mounted by Telangana ministers.
Botsa alleged that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu had addressed a letter on Telangana issue to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in order to get mileage on the matter.
Suspecting Naidu's commitment to people's problems in his padayatra set to begin from October 2, he accused Naidu of "cheating people once again" through the yatra. However, people would not believe his gimmicks, he said. (INN)
