Minister for BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar today slammed Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Botsa Satyanarayana for levelling "derogatory remarks" against the Telangana education system.
During the announcement of the results of the IIIT entrance examination in Vijayawada, Botsa reportedly made controversial comments belittling the Telangana education department claiming that Andhra Pradesh's education system was far superior to that of Telangana.
"In Telangana, it's all about paper leak scams and malpractices," Botsa reportedly said.
Sharply reacting to the comments, Gangula said that the Telangana government was providing the highest quality of education in the country, and that Andhra leaders were still spewing venom at the Telangana even after the bifurcation of the State.
Speaking to the media along with State Planning Board Vice-Chairman B Vinod Kumar and MLA Rasamayi Balakishan, Gangula claimed that Telangana had surpassed Kerala in the education system and was spending Rs 1 lakh on each student, and claimed that even the union government had appreciated Telangana's education system.
He also asked Botsa if Andhra Pradesh had won even a single award in education.
Reacting to Botsa's remarks on the alleged irregularities in the TSPSC examination, Gangula said the State government had proved its sincerity by arresting the accused involved in the scam and sending them to jail. However, in AP, MLAs and APSC members themselves were selling jobs by collecting money from unemployed youth, he alleged.
"In Andhra Pradesh, it is a routine practice for a teacher to give Rs 1 lakh as a bribe for a transfer. However, things are done in a very transparent manner in Telangana," Gangula claimed.
Demanding an apology from Botsa, Gangula Kamalakar asked the AP minister to enter Hyderabad only after retracting his comments and apologising, and also demanded that the AP government dismiss him from the State cabinet.
