Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy today warned that his Party would oppose any move of the TRS to conduct the GHMC elections during the Makara Sankranti festival.
Speaking to the media, Reddy said that the ruling Party would have to face severe consequences if the GHMC elections were held during the festival season, during which most Seemandhra residents would have gone to their native places in Andhra Pradesh.
He also alleged that in an attempt to capture the GHMC by hook or the crook, the TRS was encouraging large-scale defections by luring leaders from the Opposition Parties, and making a mockery of democracy.
The TRS was also misusing official machinery to gain in the GHMC elections, he alleged, pointing out as an example that it had put up hoardings in the entire city leaving no place for the Opposition Parties.
Reddy also asked the government how many double-bedroom houses were allotted to each constituency.
