Secretary to Government (GAD) N Sivasankar on Monday clarified that no files were damaged in the fire that broke out in the ground floor of the C-Block of Secretariat on Sunday night.
"The damage has been assessed today. No files were damaged. However, a switch board, a wall-mounted fan and a chair were damaged totally. Certain old records, which were to be weeded out and kept near the almirah, got partially damaged," the Secretary said in a statement.
Disclosing details, he said that on Sunday at about 7:45pm, fire broke out on account of short circuit in the ground floor of the C-Block where certain sections are located. The security guard who was standing there immediately noticed the smoke and informed the fire personnel, who immediately swung into action and brought the situation under the control.
The Chief Security Officer, officers of the General Administration Department and electrical engineers rushed to the scene immediately and assessed the damage.
The R&B (Elec.) Dept. are of the view that the fire broke out due to a short circuit. A complaint has been filed by the concerned authorities immediately before the Saifabad Police Station.
The fire broke out on the North Eastern side of the SC-D Section of the General Administration Department. (INN)
