Telangana Telugu Desam Forum convenor Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Monday termed media reports that he was planning to quit from the TDP as 'baseless' and 'unwarranted.'
Talking to media persons after emerging out of an hour-long meeting with party president N Chandrababu Naidu, Nagam said there was no basis behind the speculation, which has been gathering in intensity, that he was contemplating quitting from the party over the issue of a separate Telangana.
He said, "I will continue to remain in the TDP, and will fight for achieving the Telangana state while being part of the party."
The senior leader also revealed that no decision has been taken yet on the demand for establishing a separate and autonomous unit of the TDP for the Telangana region.
Telangana TDP leaders have
sought a separate wing of the party to enable better coordination of party members from the region.
Nagam, however, added that Naidu will take a final decision on the issue at a 'later and appropriate time.' He said the TDP president was consulting all Telangana leaders and seeking their opinion on the issue.
