Three days after Y V Rao, the Director of the National Intitute Of Technology (NIT), Warangal, resigned as a result of student agitations that began on Monday this week, the Minister of State for Human Resource Development (Higher Education) Daggubati Purandeswari refused to acknowledge the resignation.
Requesting Y V Rao to take a leave for a while, she said the Director was forced to resign under pressure, and that such a resignation was not acceptable. She also said that the government will take a stance on the matter after all records are analysed.
Y V Rao had been officiating as NIT Director for the past 4 years, and is facing several allegations, including those of corruption and of irregularities in the administration. He was also accused of filing ragging cases against students from the Telangana region.
Students then resorted to mass protests, demanding that Rao, along with in-charge registrar ASP Rao, resign.

well, i dont know how true or false the accusations of Rao - as mentioned in this site are. I got in touch with NITW only since past 1 month and delighted to see hostel accomodation, cool drinking water arrangements, reasonable quality of food ( Except for the fact that green salad not available), almost 100% safe environment against ragging, acceptable standards of sanitation etc.. If all these attributes have come in as a result of Rao resignation then the student agitation stands vindicated. However if the nice hostel arrangements are due to Rao's keenness of such constructions - and if no solid proof of embezzlement are available, then the credit of paying heed to very important factor of NITW student life belongs to him. He made the life easy for the students ( with good living conditions) and the parents ( with thoughts of their children accomodated in such fantastic facilites).

When thousands of students on the streets against the Director, there must be serious irregularities happening! As an ex-student of REC-W, I'm surprised to know of students complaining about food, Water and toilets. One of the best institutes of our time deserves better administrators.
I am a staff of NIT, Warangal. The allegations made by the students are 100% true. He was a very corrupt man. Since he joined NITW he took great interest only in construction works. He was even responsible for terminating the services of two brilliant faculty. He harassed the staff a lot. He formed a coterie around himself and even made arrangements for their monetary benefit. He is unfit to be the Principal of even a Junior College. Shame on him.
