Telangana minister K T Rama Rao today said that the Nerella fatal accident that led to the setting ablaze of a few sand lorries in Sircilla district was unfortunate and should not have taken place.
Along with MLA Ramesh Babu, the minister visited a hospital and consoled the victims of the incident, and sought to know about its details. Speaking to the media later, he said that the victims would get better health services.
The victims, he said, complained that policemen harassed them in the police station after setting fire to the lorries. He said that the DIG was investigating the case and would bring out the facts. The state government was very serious about the incident and would take immediate action against those involved in it without sparing anyone, he said.
"We are awaiting the DIG report, and based on it, will take action," he said.
He slammed the opposition parties for crying foul over the incident. "The opposition parties are making a hue and cry for political gain, and conspiring against me in the district to distance me from the people. These people made me a minister, and I will put in every effort possible to protect their interests. The Congress leaders are just tourists in this area and I am local," KTR asserted.
The TRS had got revenues of Rs 1,000 crores from sand mining, but the Congress, which started the sand business, just pocketed all the money, he alleged.
