The Nehru Zoological Park just got a new attraction. A pair of Horned Rhinoceroses was released into the park on Sunday.
The rhinos were brought from Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park in Patna on 24 August, on an exchange basis.
The Nehru Zoological Park gave away a pair of Asiatic Lions, a White Tiger and a Royal Bengal Tiger, and in exchange, got the pair of Horned Rhinoceroses.
The male Rhinoceros, named Suraj, is about 6 years old. His weight is 3,015 kilograms. The female Rhinoceros, Saraswati, is four-and-a-half year old.
The pair was released into the zoo in a function attended by Forest Minister Shatrucharla Vijayaramaraju, Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests Madhukar Raj, and the Park's Curator M A Waheed, among others. (INN)
