Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Jitendra Singh on Monday claimed that the activists of Maoists in AP are on the decline.
Talking to media persons after participating as the chief guest in the Mahila Mandali program held at Gandhi Bhavan, Jitendra Singh expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by the state government and the police to contain Maoist violence.
He said that youth have been utilising the benefits of several government schemes and are, therefore, staying away from Naxalism and terrorism.
Jitendra Singh said that Naxalism and terrorism can be curbed further if more youth, especially in the affected areas, join the armed forces.
He said that only misguided youth are getting influenced by Maoists and ruining their careers.
The Union Minster called upon women and youth to strengthen the Congress by taking party programs to the people.
He also requested them to support Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
Jitendra Singh denied reports of a rift between Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana. (INN)
