A team headed by Director General Of Police Girish Kumar has unearthed what is said to be the second largest dump of deadly ammunition belonging to Maoists. Rocket launchers, hand grenades and landmines were among the ammunition that was recovered in the seige at Tanuku in West Godavari district, and belonged to Tech Ramana.
Tech Ramana alias Kondal Reddy was a Naxal leader who was killed late last week in a police encounter, along with Sakhamuri Appa Rao. A similar dump found earlier belonged to the Maoist leader Tech Madhu, after whose arrest Tech Ramana had begun to prepare the said ammunition.
Raw material was brought from Pune and Mumbai, according to the DGP, and the explosives were made in Tanuku.
Clues on the Maoists' operations were gathered based on certain important documents recovered from those who were killed in the encounter last week. The DGP said that the peaceful Godavari district was being used as a hideout for Nazal ammunition.
