Police on Tuesday uncovered an arms dump, believed to have belonged to Naxalites, in Srikakulam district, and recovered a large stash of weapons.
According to Srikakulam DSP Sanjay Kumar Jain, the dump was unearthed from the forest in Mailapadu mandal of the district, after a tip-off.
Jain said that search operations were launched on Tuesday morning after informers told the police about the presence of the ammunition. The DSP added that 40 grenades, 8 landmines, and material used to make bombs, including explosives and fuse wires, were discovered in the arms dump.
He, however, said that there have been no arrests.
