IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah has announced that government processes will soon be automated to facilitate easy transaction of business for the common man.
Over a period of time, the offices and sub-offices of the district administration will be modernized, and the government processes will be automated, to facilitate the transaction of people's businesses without much delay, Minister For Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah said on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat, Ponnala said that the Central government's cabinet committee on infrastructure had earlier approved, amongst others, the national roll-out of the E-District Mission Mode project, at a cost of Rs. 1,663 crores, to be implemented in 640 districts across the country for a period of 4 years.
An empowered committee has been approved to coordinate the implementation of the project. The National E-governance Plan provides government facilities to the common man at affordable costs, he said.
The plan also envisages the creation of IT infrastructure in rural areas, to deliver public services electronically. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 1,663 crores, out of which the Centre's share is Rs. 1,233 crores, and that of the states is Rs. 430 crores.
In the 11th plan, Rs. 541 crores will be spent, and in the 12th plan, Rs. 1,121 crores would be spent over a period of 4 years. The Minister explained that through common service centres, citizens will be able to access government-to-citizen services in an integrated fashion.
The service will be responsive, transparent and accountable, Ponnala explained. It will also facilitate citizens' tracking of the progress of their applications conveniently, he added. (INN)
