Narasimha Reddy Commission Serves Notice On Former CM KCR
The Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission set up by the Congress government to inquire into the power purchases during the BRS regime today issued notices to the former CM.
The Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission set up by the Congress government upon coming to power to inquire into the power purchases during the previous BRS regime today issued notices to the former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
In the notices, the commission sought to know KCR's role in the power deals with Chhattisgarh during the BRS regime.
It asked KCR to respond by June 15, 2024.
KCR however sought time from the commission till July 30 to file a reply to the notice.
There is a possibility of a direct inquiry based on the explanation given by KCR. The Commission has indicated that it will directly initiate an inquiry into the role played by him if his reply is not satisfactory.
The Commission has been busy lately - some of the officials who worked under the BRS regime were called for questioning over the last two days, and were quizzed on several key issues. Justice Narasimha Reddy also questioned former CMD Prabhakar Rao on Monday.
Justice Reddy said, "The agreements were made without a tendering process. Notices have been issued to 25 people. We had meetings with the former CMD and the current CMD. We also had meetings with then principal secretary Suresh Chanda, and with former IAS officer S K Joshi and IAS officer Arvind Kumar. However, former CM KCR is yet to give an answer. KCR asked for time."
