The Congress has revealed that it would be holding the closing ceremony of the celebrations of former Indian Prime Minister late P V Narasimha Rao's hundredth birth anniversary on June 28.
The party has decided to bestow the P V Lifetime Achievement Award to prominent doctor Srinath Reddy on the occasion. Former Indian PM Manmohan Singh and former Union Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge will present the award virtually. Reddy himself will deliver a lecture on Covid-19 on the occasion.
The decision to felicitate a doctor was reportedly taken in order to laud the contribution of the country's doctors in battling the ongoing pandemic.
Revealing more details about the event, P V Narasimha Rao Jayanthi Utsav Committee chairperson Geeta Reddy, former MP Mallu Ravi, and convenor Mahesh Kumar Goud, said that the party had held the celebrations of PVNR's hundredth birth year in a grand manner throughout the year.
Geeta Reddy added that the closing ceremony of the celebrations was to be held on June 28.
She said, "Our party had held various programs to highlight the success and vision of PV’s economic and external affairs policies as well his land reform efforts. Former President Pranab Mukherjee, former PM Manmohan Singh, and former Union ministers Jairam Ramesh and Shashi Tharoor were among some of the eminent figures who had taken part in the programs."
