Congress Slams KCR For Staying Away From Ugadi Celebrations
TPCC senior vice-president G Niranjan asked why the Telangana CM had stayed away from the official Ugadi celebrations organized by the State government.
TPCC senior vice-president G Niranjan today asked why Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had stayed away from the official Ugadi celebrations organized by the State government on Wednesday at Ravindra Bharathi.
Speaking to media persons in Gandhi Bhavan, he said that official Ugadi celebrations and the Chief Minister taking part in them were time-honoured customs, and that KCR set a very bad precedent yesterday by skipping the function. The CM should tell the public why he did not participate in the celebrations, Niranjan said.
"KCR and his family members sat closeted in Pragathi Bhavan reviewing the ED enquiry on Kavitha, while panchanga sravanams were going on across the State," he alleged.
He also pointed out that KCR had first previously shifted the venue of the Ugadi celebrations from Ravindra Bharathi to Pragathi Bhavan, and this year again directed the officials to have the celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi.
The TPCC leader said that a Chief Minister could not behave as per his whims and fancies. The traditions of the State and the people should be respected, he said.
Niranjan added that the people were watching everything keenly, and were eagerly waiting to put an end to the misrule of KCR and his family.
