Are the Congress leaders from other districts not happy with the erstwhile Nalgonda district Congress leaders? It seems so.
A senior party leader from a North Telangana district openly expressed his unhappiness at all Nalgonda district leaders on Saturday. He said that just because of them, the Congress had lost a good chance of winning the 2014 elections. It was their selfish attitude that led to KCR not merging his party into the Congress.
"The party lost a golden chance of coming to power in the newly-formed state because of the Nalgonda Congress leaders in the 2014 elections. They were fighting for the Chief Minister's post before assessing the situation, and objected to KCR's candidature for the post. What was wrong if KCR became Chief Minister from the Congress party?" he said.
He said that the Congress would have got more Lok Sabha seats then, and the situation would not have worsened to what it is now.
He said that the Nalgonda leaders influenced the then AICC general secretary in-charge of Telangana Digvijaya Singh in 2014, resulting in the party's debacle in that election. "Ponnala Laxmaiah failed to influence the AICC leaders though he was the PCC chief. Only the Nalgonda district leaders were able to influence the AICC," he said.
He lamented that the leaders from the erstwhile Nalgonda district were again destroying the party interests now by criticizing each other.
He added that all the Nalgonda district Congress leaders were good friends of his and he had no grudge against them, but his interest was ultimately the welfare of the party and the farmers.
The senior leader said at least now all the party leaders needed to assess the prevailing situation and move forward for the good of the party. Otherwise the party's interests would be affected, he said. He claimed that he was not bothered about who would become the next Chief Minister as long as the party won more Parliament seats which would help it in all aspects in the future.
