Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy today lambasted Congress leader Bhatti Vikramarka for "spreading lies" against the State government on irrigation projects.
Speaking at a press conference today, Reddy alleged that Vikramarka during his ongoing padayatra in Nalgonda district was levelling baseless remarks against the State government on the construction of irrigation projects, and was misleading the people that the BRS government had not done anything for Nalgonda district on the irrigation front.
"A majority of the projects under the Dindi lift irrigation project have reached the completion stage, and the State government has so far spent over Rs 2,000 crore for the works. The farmers in the Dindi area are now getting irrigation water for two crops per year. However, concealing the facts, Bhatti Vikramarka is misleading the people over the construction of irrigation projects in Nalgonda district," Reddy claimed.
The State government was also committed to completing the SLBC project as early as possible, and a 9 km tunnel work remained pending, he said. The project works were being delayed due to technical issues, he added.
Reddy alleged that Vikramarka did not have any knowledge on the State's issues except for those in his Madhira Assembly constituency, and would never become a State-level leader.
Reddy also alleged that Congress leaders Revanth Reddy and Bhatti Vikramarka, and BJP State unit president Bandi Sanjay, were undertaking padayatras only for their own selfish reasons, and not for resolving the problems of the people.
