TDP national head and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today slammed the YSR Congress Party-led state government for its alleged failure in tackling the deadly Covid-19 virus pandemic.
Speaking at a protest held to demand the extension of financial assistance to all Covid-19 victims, he said that the state would not have faced such a grave public health situation had the Jagan government worked in a planned and efficient manner to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
Further, stating that the pandemic had left several families of AP in a state of economic and emotional shock, Naidu claimed, "CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy did not feel the need to move even after witnessing the plight of the Covid victims in our state. He even took the pandemic lightly at a time when the entire world was shuddering after seeing its intensity - in fact, the wine shops in AP were kept open through the height of the pandemic. At this point, the government should at least stop providing false statistics, and responsibly and honestly reveal the total number of patients who have died due to Covid-19."
The TDP chief then alleged that the government had not taken the suggestions of the leaders of the Opposition into consideration in implementing pandemic control measures. He said that a responsible government would have taken the suggestions of other political parties into consideration, and demanded that the government take immediate steps to prepare for a possible third wave.
The leader also thundered that he had been mocked by Jagan for making "good pandemic prevention suggestions" during the initial days of its spread, and that the ruling party had harassed TDP leaders citing the Covid-19 outbreak.
He claimed that, unlike the Jagan regime, the yellow party had been able to instil confidence among scores of Covid-19 victims.
