Leaders of the main Opposition to the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh, the YSR Congress Party, today claimed that several members of the TDP including Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu were privy of the Centre's decision to demonetize the 500 and 1,000 currency bills.
Addressing the media on the "hardships" being faced by farmers, small traders and daily wage labourers due to the ongoing cash crunch in the wake of demonetization, YSR Congress leader Botsa Satyanarayana said that Naidu, being an ally of the BJP, was aware of the move to demonetize the two currency notes beforehand.
Satyanarayana alleged that the CM was told to convert his unaccountable money into liquid assets.
He also claimed that "the very fact that Naidu was paying Rs. 10 lakhs per day Counsel fee in the cash-for-votes case while valuing his wealth at only Rs. 50 lakhs proves that he has more unaccountable wealth."
