In a scathing counterattack, former chief minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday condemned the statements made by Chief Minister K Rosaiah earlier in the day.
Condemning the personal attack by the Chief Minister in which he had accused Naidu of backstabbing his own father-in-law NT Rama Rao, and grabbing the Chief Minister's chair, the TDP chief demanded that Rosaiah tender an unconditional apology.
Talking to media persons at his residence, the opposition leader alleged that the Chief Minister, who had failed 'totally' in all spheres of governance, was resorting to personal attacks instead of redressing the people's problems.
Naidu stated that though the opposition TDP was playing constructive role and helping the government, the Chief Minister had failed to provide requisite relief to flood victims.
The former chief minister pointed out that the centre had released financial assistance of only Rs. 1,900 crore for relief operations despite the state government seeking Rs. 42,500 crore. "This indicates the inefficiency of the state government in getting aid from the centre," he stated.
Taking serious note of the comments made by Rosaiah, Naidu advised the Chief Minister to behave while talking about prominent leaders.
The TDP chief advised Rosaiah to give proper respect while commenting against his political adversaries.
The former chief minister also criticized Rosaiah by saying that the Chief Minister did not know the problems of the people as he was not an elected member of the Assembly.
The TDP chief asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi to visit the state and see the inefficient administration, as the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues had failed to govern it properly.
Naidu alleged that the state had failed to attract investments, and investors were going to other states due to wrong policies adopted by the state government and officials' indifferent attitude.
