Naidu Asks NTPC To Quicken 4000MW Pudimadaka Plant
NTPC CMD Anup Roy offered 200 MW from NTPC Jhajjar and 100 MW from NTPC Barh to AP immediately, and to set up a 300 MW solar park in the Guntur district.
NTPC Chairman & Managing Director Anup Roy, along with Director (Operations) N N Mishra and Director (Technical) A K Jha, met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday.
J S V Prasad (Principal Secretary Industries, AP), G Sai Prasad (Secretary to CM, AP), Ajay Jain (Secretary, Energy, AP) and Vijayanand (MD, APGENCO, and CMD APTRANSCO) were also present.
The Chief Minister requested the NTPC CMD to expedite work on setting up of the 4000 MW power plant at Pudimadaka. The Principal Secretary of Industries was directed to finalize a suitable site within 15 days, so that NTPC can go ahead with setting up the power project.
The CM also requested the NTPC CMD to maintain 15 days' coal stock at NTPC Simhadri.
The NTPC CMD informed that about 200 MW from NTPC Jhajjar & 100 MW from NTPC Barh can be provided to AP immediately. Naidu directed the Energy Department to avail itself of the power from the above projects by entering into PPAs with the above projects.
It was also decided that AP would get power from NTPC Farakka on a long-term basis.
The NPTC also agreed to set up a 300 MW solar park in the Guntur district through competitive bidding, so that AP could get solar energy at the lowest tariff. This will add green energy to AP's power portfolio.
Anup Roy also agreed to spare NTPC's railway sliding & allow MS Hinduja to take 4 rakes up to their coal yards. This would enable MS Hinduja to commission its 2 x 520 MW plants at the earliest. (INN)
