Launching a scathing attack on the Congress and the BJP for their "anti-people policies", Telangana Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy today said that the TRS would surely register a comfortable victory over its two rivals in the upcoming by-election in Nagarjuna Sagar next month.
He made these remarks at a campaign for the April 17 election in the constituency.
The minister then hit out at the Congress candidate for the seat, former minister K Jana Reddy, and claimed that the latter had "no right" to seek the votes of the people of Nagarjuna Sagar as he had allegedly "failed miserably" to develop the region during his stint as minister. Questioning the Congress' choice to field Jana Reddy for the seat, he asked the party why it chose him when he had no moral right to ask for votes.
Turning to the people, he made a stirring appeal and assured them that only
Nomula Bhagat, the TRS' candidate, would be able to address their issues and problems.
"The TRS regime has addressed decades-long water shortage problems and fluoride issues in six-and-a-half years. We have been able to provide potable water to fluoride-affected areas in the state's rural pockets through effective schemes like Mission Bhagiratha, and have made significant improvements to the state's irrigation infrastructure. This has benefited lakhs of farmers. Although the Congress and the BJP are always levelling false charges against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and our government, we have always worked towards growth, development, and welfare," the leader maintained.
"The BJP and the Congress, on the other hand, have always come in the way of Telangana's development. They have attempted to mislead people by spreading lies, but have not been able to do much else for the people's welfare. However, our government has always been committed to the people. It is this commitment of ours that will fetch Nomula Bhagat votes on April 17. After all, neither the Congress not the BJP can win the trust of the people. The public supports the TRS and our leader, KCR. We have been able to bring growth and economic security to our state, and the support we enjoy due to this was proven in the
recent MLC elections, and will be proved again soon," he asserted.
