BRS MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao today said that that he was resigning from the BRS, and also rejecting the party ticket offered to him for the Malkajgiri Assembly constituency.
In a resignation letter addressed the BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the MLA, who represents the Malkajgiri Assembly constituency, alleged that there was no democracy or transparency in the functioning of the party, and that the party leadership had ignored the voices and opinions of the grassroots workers and leaders, and had taken many unilateral decisions without any consultation or consensus.
"The name change of the party from TRS to BRS against the wishes of the rank and file of the party is a glaring example. And the unfruitful attempts to expand into neighbouring States have taken away the focus of the party from the development of Telangana," Mynampally claimed.
"I cannot continue in the party that has lost its direction and identity. The party has become a puppet in the hands of a few power-hungry individuals. I cannot betray the trust and faith of the people of my constituency. Moreover, I cannot compromise on my principles, values and commitment to service that I have upheld throughout my political career," he said.
"I have taken this decision after a lot of deliberations and consultations with my supporters," he added.
For the unversed, Rao was offered the party ticket for the same (Malkajgiri) constituency for the upcoming Assembly elections, but he raised a banner of revolt against the leadership for its denying a ticket to his son too, for the Medak Assembly constituency.
According to sources, Rao is planning to join the Congress soon.
