MLC and former minister Patnam Mahender Reddy today claimed that his guesthouse situated near the Himayat Sagar lake did not fall under the buffer zone or Full Tank Level (FTL), and that it had been constructed in line with all government regulations.
Speaking to the media, Reddy said that the land was legally purchased in 1999, and that the building was constructed with proper permissions given by the then district Collector and irrigation officials.
"At the time of the construction, I had invited the irrigation officials to inspect the site. They certified that there was no violation," the MLC said.
Even though many people, including MPs and other prominent individuals, owned properties within the areas governed by GO 111, his property did not fall within the FTL or buffer zones, he said.
He also said that the Regional Ring Road passed through the lands purchased by his grandfather, and hence there was no need for him to violate any rules for a small property.
He further said that if any aspect of the construction was found to be in violation of the regulations, he would fully cooperate with the government's actions, even to the extent of demolishing the building himself.
The Congress MLC also welcomed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's actions of demolishing illegal constructions situated in the buffer zones and FTLs of water bodies.
He also condemned the remarks of BRS working president K T Rama Rao and said that Rao was levelling baseless allegations without knowing the facts.
