Moula Ali Wall Collapse: Criminal Case Filed
The GHMC files a criminal case against Abbas Constructions And Structural Engineers, whose compound wall collapse killed 6 people.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has filed a criminal case against Abbas Constructions And Structural Engineers, whose compound wall collapse killed 6 people in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to GHMC Commissioner M T Krishna Babu, "An apartment building was under construction in Mehdi Jung Colony at Moula-Ali, in Malkajgiri Circle. The old retaining wall, with a length of about 30 feet on the western side, collapsed outside onto two small thatched huts, resulting in loss of lives of six persons. Rwo children survived of injuries. This incident took place in the night at about 12:30am, on Tuesday."
Reports say that the old retaining wall on two sides of the site was about 12 feet high. The builder had raised the height of the wall by another 4 feet, and filled the site with soil. Thus, there was a the difference of about 15 feet on the western side. Thanks to continuous rain and the heavy load of earth, a length of about 30 feet of the retaining wall collapsed.
Immediately after receiving information, the officials of the GHMC rushed to the spot and initiated rescue measures.
A JCB was immediately arranged for the removal of the debris, and services of rescue personnel from NDRF, and disaster management teams from CISF, AP Fire Services Department and AP Police Department, were called into action.
The dead bodies were removed in the presence of the police and sent to the mortuary in Gandhi Hospital, under the supervision of the police.
The deceased have been identified as K Venkataiah (35), K Padma (27), Mahadev (38), Padma (32), B Anil (12) and B Shiva (10).
Two children - K Avinash (10) and K Anusha (5) - survived in the incident. They have been admitted into Thulasi Hospital at ECIL 'X' roads.
The Commissioner said that the land owner, Qamar Jahan Taleyaver, and 7 others, had applied for permission for the construction an apartment building with four blocks in the site area. Permission was granted for a cellar, stilt +5 floors for residential flats, and an amenities block, vide permit no. 7/29 (dated 31 August, 2010). The applicant had started the construction of the block on the west side. (INN)
