After a sea of candidates for the upcoming MLC elections in two of Telangana's graduates' constituencies
rushed to file their nominations yesterday, the CPI candidate for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituency, journalist B Jayasarthi Reddy, also filed his papers today (the last day to do so).
Before leaving to file his nomination, the candidate reportedly sought the blessings of his mother.
Party secretary Chada Venkat Reddy had officially announced Jayasarathi Reddy's candidature and had
handed over the B Form to the latter on February 20.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkat Reddy and CPM secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram appealed to the graduates of the constituency to vote for their candidate, claiming that he would "truly represent the voice of the common people".
While the CPI is fielding a candidate of its own for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituency's elections, it has decided not to do so for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar constituency polls, and will reportedly extend its support to the CPM candidate instead.
The fight for the seat will be an intense one with many well-known faces, including incumbent MLC, TRS' Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Congress' Ramulu Naik and BJP's G Premender Reddy, also vying for the seat.
TRS candidate for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar seat, former PM P V Narasimha Rao's daughter Surabhi Vani Devi, also re-filed her papers today. She was reportedly asked to do so after her form failed to adhere fully to the Election Commission's prescribed format when she submitted the papers yesterday.
