MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao's flat in the MLA Quarters at Hyderguda was recently burgled.
The miscreants took away Rs 10,000 and 14 tolas of gold belonging to Rao's relative Amarnath Babu.
Babu has been living in flat 305, allotted to Rao by the government, with his family for some time now.
Upon discovering that the gold valuables kept in his flat were missing, he filed a complaint with the Narayanguda police, alleging that there had been a theft in his flat, on January 29.
Commenting on the incident, the police said that the flat was, in all likelihood, burgled sometime between January 11 and January 23 when its residents were out of station.
While they did not reveal much else, they did hint that the domestic help or someone else known to the family and in possession of a duplicate key was likely to be involved in the incident.
The driver and the domestic help of the family are reportedly under investigation in this regard.
The police also dusted the scene for fingerprints.
However, what is likely to complicate the investigation is the reported absence of any CCTV cameras inside or at the entrance of the MLA quarters.
Many high-level police officials, including the Commissioner of Police, are said to be involved in the on-going investigations.
