Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has assured the State Legislative Assembly that a thorough investigation would be ordered into the incident of the firing attempt with an AK-47 upon Aurobindo Pharma's Vice-Chairman K Nityananda Reddy at the KBR Park.
Making a statement on the floor of the House, the Chief Minister said that the incident happened at about 7:15 am while Nithyananda Reddy was returning from morning walk.
He said that a case (No 1387/2014) had been registered at the Banjara Hills Police Station under Sections 307 and 363 of the IPC, and Sections 25 & 27 of the Arms Act.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the weapon used on Wednesday's incident was the same AK-47 that belongeded to the Grey Hounds and went missing from the Narsingi Police Station on December 26, 2013. A case (No 67/2014) under Sections 408 & 380 of the IPC had been registered on February 3 this year in this connection.
KCR said that the Home Minister would make a detailed statement in the House on the issue on Thursday.
Earlier, the Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy and MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi had demanded a detailed statement on the issue from the government. (INN)
