The Miss World contestants today explored the historical sites of Warangal.
They were divided into two groups to visit the famed Kakatiya monuments. One group of 22 contestants toured the Thousand Pillar Temple in Hanamkonda and the Warangal Fort, while the other group of 35 visited the Ramappa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Palampet village, Mulugu district.
The contestants arrived at the Ramappa Temple dressed in traditional attire. Upon arrival, they received a warm welcome, and artists performed the Gussadi dance and traditional Kommu Koya dances to entertain the guests.
Retired NIT Warangal professor K Panduranga Rao provided insights to the contestants and related visitors into the temple's architecture and history. The contestants were captivated by the ancient temple and admired its exquisite architectural features.
The event was coordinated by Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka, who interacted with the contestants. A Perini dance performance and a light show were also held at the temple as part of the cultural showcase.
Special rituals were also conducted at the temple to mark the occasion.
At the Thousand Pillar Temple, tourism guides offered detailed explanations about the temple's unique features to the contestants. The group expressed admiration for the massive Nandeeshwara idol, touching it and learning about its historical significance. They later posed for a group photo on the temple steps, and also had a photo opportunity with Seethakka during the event.
