Miscreants Threaten Editor
Sada-e-Hussaini, an Urdu daily, had carried an article criticizing certain religious leaders, and miscreants have now threatened to set its office on fire.
The editor of a vernacular daily on Monday stated that some miscreants have threatened to set his newspaper's office on fire if it does not desist from publishing adverse reports against them.
Talking to INN, Syed Jaffar Hussain, editor of the Urdu daily "Sada-e-Hussaini", stated that a group of miscreants had invaded the newspaper's office at Purani Haveli and threatened him and his staff of physical harm. The miscreants also warned him to "desist from publishing adverse reports against them".
Hussain said that the newspaper had carried an article about how religious leaders had disregarded their own words and kept making public speeches while the "Azaan", the call to prayer, was going on.
The editor said that the article had criticised the religious leaders for not heeding their own preaching.
Hussain added that he suspected that the group of miscreants was followers of these religious leaders and had been instigated to suppress his criticism.
He maintained that he would fight on and publish articles based on truth, and that he will not hesitate to criticise any wrong doing.
The editor said that he had lodged a complaint with the Dabeerpura police against the threats and was waiting for the police to act.
