The Hyderabad West Zone police today rescued a minor girl being forced into prostitution and apprehended the woman who was forcing her (the minor was her foster-daughter) into it.
The accused P Lakshmi, a resident of Jubilee Hills, works as a junior artist in the film industry. As the income from her film roles was insufficient for her expenses, she started a brothel house from her residence along with other women.
The minor was raised by the accused since her infancy, and considered Lakshmi as her own mother. Lakshmi however started emotionally blackmailing her from two years back to take part in prostitution. Upon the girl refusing, Lakshmi physically tortured her by beating her with a stick and burning her skin with hot metal. She also forcibly made her drop out from school and went to the extent of chopping off her hair as well.
On a tip-off, West Zone Team of the Commissioner's Task Force raided West Zone Team's residence where the prostitution was taking place and rescued the girl.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Hyderabad, requested citizens of the city to be alert to their surroundings and bring to the notice of the police any information of illegal dens of prostitution, trafficking of minors and sale of drugs in public.
The arrest was made by E Jangaiah, Inspector, West Zone Task Force; B Arvind Goud; G Naveen; and staff of the West Zone Task Force.
