Accusing the BJP government at the Centre of privatising the Singareni Collieries in Telangana, Minister for Finance T Harish Rao today launched a campaign named "BJP Hatao, Singareni Bachao" in Khammam district.

With the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) planning to conduct a massive public meeting at Khammam on January 18, the party's leaders held a preparatory meeting at Yellandu of Khammam district.

Addressing the meeting, Rao said that the union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was planning to privatise the Singareni Collieries, and as part of the conspiracy, company was gradually being pushed into a debt trap.

Taking a dig at former MP and BRS leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who has been sulking with the party for some time and is planning to join the BJP soon, Rao said there was no scope of the BJP coming to power in Telangana, and that it would be a suicide attempt for those joining the saffron party.

MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra, MLAs Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and Regaa Kantha Rao, former minister Thummala Nageswara Rao, and others were present.
