Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar today escaped with minor injuries in a stage collapse incident at Charla Bathkur village of Karimnagar district.
The incident occurred when the cumulative weight of the minister and a group of BRS leaders who got onto the dias exceeded its limit, causing it to collapse. As a result, all those present on the platform, including the minister, fell down.
Kamalakar and a ZPTC member sustained minor injuries.
The minister was immediately taken to the local health hospital where first-aid was given to him.
The doctors said that there was a minor injury to the minister's leg and that he had been advised rest for some days.
The incident took place when the minister came to Charla Bathkur village to attend the closing ceremony celebrations of the Chiruthala Ramayanam stage drama.
