Following the CBI's arrest of Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in the multi-crore mining scam, Home Minister P Sabitha Reddy, former minister Belineni Srinivasulu Reddy and 2 senior IAS officials are also likely to face the CBI's wrath, reliable sources told INN.
Both Sabitha and Belineni held the mines portfolio in Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's cabinet.
IAS officer Sri Laxmi, who was the Secretary of the Mines department, and Rajagopal, the then Mines department Managing Director, might have to face CBI interrogations shortly.
The CBI has already interrogated a top IAS officer B P Acharya, who had headed the Industries and APIIC departments during YSR's regime.
The CBI, sources said, is now seeking permissions to prosecute everyone involved in the said irregularities.
The CBI is understood to have secured evidences related to the illegal mining scandal, the government's relaxations, and a list of those who benefited due to changes in the Act.
Further, exceeding the state boundary limits, changes in revenue limits effected unilaterally by the then Chief Minister YSR, and in the process, demolishing a place of worship for the mining of iron ore, are other issues being probed by the CBI. The role of people behind the exports of lakhs of tonnes of iron ore overseas is also being probed. (INN)
