The All India Majlis E Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has decided to contest the Assembly elections in Bihar.
Announcing his party's decision, party supremo and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that his party would field candidates in some 40 constituencies.
He also disclosed that he was appointing Akhtar-ul-Imam as president of the Bihar unit of the AIMIM.
Stating that regional development would be his party's main agenda for the elections, Owaisi said that the AIMIM would field candidates only in the four districts of the Seemanchal region.
Alleging that all previous State governments had neglected the Seemanchal region in the matter of development, the AIMIM chief said that his party members would raise the problems of the Seemanchal area in the Assembly after the elections.
