Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced that the Metro Rail would be extended to the Patancheru-Hayathnagar stretch if the BRS government returned to power in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking at a program after laying a foundation stone for a 200-bed super-speciality hospital to be constructed at a cost of Rs 183 crore at Patancheru in Sangareddy district on Thursday, the CM said that the Patancheru-Dilsukhnagar stretch was the most busy traffic corridor in Hyderabad, and that there was a need to provide Metro Rail facility to those areas.
"I personally promise that the proposal for Metro Rail connectivity from Patancheru to Hayathnagar will be introduced in the first cabinet meeting, and that it will be approved immediately if the BRS government returns to power in the upcoming Assembly elections," KCR announced.
He added that proposals for the extension of Metro Rail connectivity were coming from all quarters in Hyderabad, and that such a demand had been made by Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy too for the Maheshwaram Assembly constituency.
Upon the request of Patancheru MLA Mahipal Reddy, KCR also sanctioned a polytechnic for Patancheru, and directed the officials concerned to issue a GO in this regard immediately.
