The state government is set for the 4-day Medaram Samakka Sarakka Jatara, that starts on 8 February. This is the biggest tribal festival in the Eturunagaram mandal in Warangal.
Talking to media persons after releasing the posters of the Samakka Sarakka jatara festival on Wednesday, Information Technology Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would participate in the Medaram Jatara as the representative of the state government.
He said that the government has allocated Rs. 55 crores for the purpose, and that the RTC, the railways, and the departments of health, sanitation and others have been asked to make efforts to make the festival a success.
Stating that all arrangements for the Jatara would be completed in 2 days, the minister said the government would acquire land for the arrangements and pay compensation to the owners.
He said the government was making efforts to provide better facilities for devotees during the Jatara.
Responding to the possible changes in his portfolio during the Cabinet expansion, he said that it was the prerogative of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
However, the Chief Minister would take a final decision on the portfolios after consulting the High Command, Ponnala said.
He expressed confidence the the CM would choose efficient candidates and utilize their services for the state's development.
Stating that he was "completely satisfied" with his portfolio, he said that he would discharge his duties in a responsible manner.
Terming the Partnership Summit-2012 a "big success", Ponnala said that the Telangana region has received 43 proposals from the Centre for the establishment of industries.
He said that the state has received most of the proposals for the establishment of industries in IT, and in the tourism and hospitality sector. (INN)
