The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Sunday met Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal and lodged a complaint against TRS leaders accusing them of violating the model code of conduct in the Medak Lok Sabha by-election campaign.
TPCC official spokesperson B Kamalakar Rao and General Secretary T Kumar Rao in their complaint alleged that the leaders and activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi had been mollifying the voters with false promises, and had also manhandled the Congress party leaders and workers in Siddipet town of the Medak Parliamentary constituency.
They alleged that when former minister D Sridhar Babu, along with other leaders and activists, was on a padayatra in the Chodavaram village of the Chinakodur mandal, TRS MPTC Bhooma Reddy and his henchmen had manhandled them on September 6.
After the incident, Sridhar Babu had lodged a complaint in the Chinakodur Police Station.
Similarly, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao was pressurizing the Gram Panchayats to make unanimous resolutions to vote in favour of the TRS candidate in the Medak by-election, to be held on September 13.
Several Gram Panchayats had indeed made such resolutions due to the pressure by Harish Rao, the TPCC leaders alleged.
The TPCC leaders requested the CEO to take immediate action against the TRS leaders to ensure free and fair polls. (INN)
