Mayor Reviews Monsoons Action Plan With Officials

GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain directed the Chief Engineer to furnish the completion letters from the Corporators with regard to the desilting of the nalas taken up in their respective divisions.

The Mayor, along with his Deputy G Rajkumar and Commissioner Somesh Kumar, held a meeting on the monsoon action plan with all the Additional Commissioners, Zonal Commissioners, HoDs and Superintending Engineers in his chambers today.

GHMC Chief Engineer T Anjaneyulu informed the Mayor that all 297 desilting packages had been completed, at a cost of Rs. 21.21 crores.

He said that special teams had been formed for the verification of the desilting works, and 12 Corporators had given their satisfaction letters for the desilting works.

In response, the Mayor directed the Chief Engineer to get satisfaction letters from all the other corporators within 2 days.

Somesh Kumar requested the Mayor to take up a resolution for spending a certain extent of the Corporators' budgets for other departmental works such as those of the HMWSSB.

The Mayor directed the GHMC Secretary to put up the proposal in the next Standing Committee meeting. He also asked the Secretary to put up proposals for the purchase of rollers in the next Standing Committee meeting.

The Commissioner informed that he had sanctioned works worth Rs. 69.14 crores in 47 wards under the Corporators' budget, directed the Zonal Commissioners to speed up the process of issuing sanctions under this budget, and suggested avoiding delaying the process of sanctioning for petty reasons.

He further directed completion of the process of sanctions within a week.

Floor Leaders Diddi Rambabu (Congress), Singireddy Srinivas Reddy (TDP), Mohd Nazeeruddin (MIM) and Bangari Prakash (BJP), and Standing Committee members participated in the meeting. (INN)
