A Shada Raju, who was stuck in a crevice between two huge boulders in the Yellareddy forest area of Ramreddy mandal in Kamareddy district for 43 hours, was safely rescued by the police and revenue officials on Thursday.
He was shifted to a hospital in an ambulance, and his condition was stated to be stable.
Raju went hunting on Tuesday morning along with another friend Ashok, and fell into the crevice between two huge boulders at Singarayapalli Puligutta.
The accident happened on Tuesday evening when Raju reportedly dropped his mobile phone and attempted to retrieve it, slipping in the process and falling into the small opening of the boulders, and getting stuck in a cave.
Ashok stayed with him overnight, but sensing the gravity of the situation, immediately alerted the locals nearby. They quickly called the local police, and rescue operations led by police, revenue and forest department officials started on Wednesday evening.
The authorities deployed four JCBs to remove the boulders to rescue the youth. The rescue operation used generators and stretched throughout the night, with Raju being provided liquid food and oxygen to ensure his survival.
He was also covered with a bedsheet to prevent any splinters from falling on him.
The rescue operation finally ended successfully today, and Raju was safely taken out and immediately sent to the Kamareddy Government Hospital in an ambulance kept ready for him.
It is reported that Raju suffered minor injuries on his hand and was suffering from fatigue.
His wife and family members heaved a sigh of relief and expressed gratitude to the officials for extricating him safely.
