The Parkal MLA has accused the TRS of trying to foil Jagan's yatra at any cost.
Following the registering of police cases against Congress leaders K Muralidhar (MLC), Konda Surekha (MLA), Naini Rajender Reddy, Pulla Padma (MLC) and Pulla Bhaskar by the Warangal district police over the Mahabubabad incident, Konda Surekha addressed the media on Monday. Cases were registered under Section IPC 147, 148, 332 and 307, including charges of attempts to murder.
The Parkal MLA indicated that the reports of several gunmen having opened fire in the midst of the crowd were exaggerated - only 3 gunmen had shot at attackers after locking their protectees (Konda Surekha, Konda Murali and M Kavita) inside the waiting room at the railway station that this incident took place. She added that the violence was not provoked by her party, and demanded that those responsible for this were the TRS partymen.
She accused the TRS of trying to foil the attempt of Jagan to conduct what was purely a personal tour, and that their (the politicians supporting Jagan on the day of the attack, including Surekha) aim was to see to it that it was fruitful. The TRS was afraid of losing the following it had built with the people of Telangana, and saw Jagan as a threat, she said.
As for differences within the party that arose over Jagan's tour, she said it was normal for any rising leader to face hurdles, and stressed that she would remain a Jagan loyalist. She, however, also said that there were no differences with the Rosaiah government in the issue of Odarpu, as Rosaiah himself had said that Jagan could go on with it. She refused to comment on the issue of the high command's directive, though.
The feisty MLA went on to say that Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief KCR had done nothing for the Telangana cause compared to what her partymen had done, and stated that KCR must give back all the money he had made through illegal means to the people of Telangana.
