A ceremonial guard of honour and a wreath of flowers were presented in respect of the brave soldier, late M Yadaiah, when his mortal remains were flown in to Hyderabad airport this morning.
Lt. Gen. S M Mehta, Commandant MCEME, Secunderabad, commanded the ceremony, which was arranged in the open area of the cargo section at Shamsabad Airport.
Senior serving officers of the tri-services, i. e., the Army, the Air Force and the Navy - an impressive line-up which included the likes of Major General Cyrus A Pithawalla, Air Vice Marshal D P Upot, Rear Admiral K Srinivas, and other senior officers - attended the wreath-laying ceremony.
G Jaya Kumar, Addl. Director, Protocol, was also present on behalf of the government of Andhra Pradesh. Lt. Gen. K R Rao also paid his homage to the deceased soldier, by laying a wreath on the coffin.
Later, the mortal remains of M Yadaiah were taken to his native village Kondareddypally, in Wanaparthy Mandal of Mahboobnagar district, for the observance of the last rites.
Under the supervision of Major General Cyrus A Pithawalla, GOC, Andhra Sub Area, arrangements were made for the ocassion.
While serving in the 35 Rashtriya Rifles, the 28-year-old M Yadaiah was killed in a militant
attack in Srinagar on June 24. (INN)
