An Army Captain was arrested in the city by the Anti-Terrorist Squad of the Uttar Pradesh police, reportedly in connection with Monday's blast at the Kushinagar mosque in UP.
The police suspect that Captain Mohammed Ashfaq, who is working as a doctor at the Military Hospital in Trimulgherry, was present at the spot when the blast occurred there.
Investigating agencies suspect that Ashfaq had escaped from the spot soon after the blast and reached Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad police, however, said that they had no information about the Captain or his being involved.
The Uttar Pradesh police have already nabbed four persons including a Muslim cleric in connection with the blast.
Officials suspect that one Haji Kutubuddin had reportedly told the youth who had stored the explosives, weighing around eight to 10 kg, that something big was being planned.
Ashfaq is the grandson of Haji Kutubuddin, and was working along with his wife in the health department of the Indian Army in the city.
According to reports, agencies are also investigating whether the explosives reached the mosque via Ashfaq.
