In protest against the government's restrictions on the sale of farm produce outside the state, Lok Satta Party president Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan, on Saturday, started a 2-days satyagraha march from Yemmiganur in Kurnool district to Gilkasugur in Raichur district of Karnataka.
Talking to media persons, Jayaprakash Narayan slammed the government for imposing unnecessary restrictions on the sale of paddy outside AP.
Stating that farmers were being forced to sell their produce due to the government's failure to announce remunerative prices, he said that at least now the government must take proper measures to facilitate farmers' selling of produce in their own places.
Expressing solidarity with the march, Congress leader Rudra Goud said that he was ready to go to jail if the government fails to lift the restrictions on sale of produce out of AP.
Before launching the march, Jayaprakash Narayan performed a pooja at Neelakanteswara Swamy Temple, and paid floral tributes to constitutional architect Dr. B R Ambedkar.
The march will cover a 36km distance, touching Dharmapuram, Halaharvi, Chilakadona and Kalludevakunta villages, and will arrive at Mantralayama tonight.
He will resume the march from Mantralayam on Sunday, and pass through Chetnepalli, Madhavaram and Tungabhadra villages, and reach Gilkasugur Camp. JP will then address farmers at Madhavaram and Gilkasugur Camp. (INN)
