The Lok Satta Party on Thursday appealed to all parties to transcend their political differences and strive for an amicable settlement to the Babli project issue.
Talking to media persons, Lok Satta Party Working President DVVS Varma appealed to Chief Minister K Rosaiah to convene an all-party meeting before he leads a delegation to the prime minister.
An attempt should be made to arrive at a political settlement outside the court, he said. Meanwhile, parties should put an end to slinging mud at each other and rousing regional passions.
Varma congratulated the Telugu Desam Party on drawing the nation's attention to the Babli issue by launching an agitation. However, an agitation is only the first step in working towards a solution, he said.
Varma took strong exception to Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's comments against TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu as well as against the Shiv Sainiks'
attempts to rake up a dispute over the Salura project.
Party leaders Katari Srinivasa Rao, V Laxman Balaji and V Vijayender Reddy took part in the media conference.
